20 Most Iconic Villain Introductions In Movie History

15. Don Logan - Sexy Beast

Sometimes a movie villain is such an effective presence on screen because the actor playing them is the last person you'd expect to take on such a role. One performance which certainly fits this bill is Ben Kingsley as Don Logan in Sexy Beast, in which he plays a psychotic gangster sent to make sure Gary "Gal" Dove (Ray Winstone) returns from his villa in Spain for one last heist in London. The fact that Kingsley at this point was far better known for playing more gentle roles (most notably Gandhi) makes his intense and wild portrait of a gangster all the more effective. With co-star Ray Winstone far more renowned for playing the hard man it's a wonderful contrast to see, as Gal shrinks before Logan's menacing presence. Sexy Beast marks the directorial debut for Jonathan Glazer, who went on to direct last year's science fiction brain-twister, Under The Skin.
