20 Most Iconic Villain Introductions In Movie History

16. The Grand High Witch - The Witches

Faithfully bringing the twisted fantasy worlds of Roald Dahl to the big screen has always been something of a challenge for filmmakers but none have pulled it off quite as successfully as Nicolas Roeg did with his masterful adaptation of The Witches. Angelica Houston stars as Miss Ernst, whom young boy Lucas discovers to be the Grand High Witch when he unwittingly stumbles across a coven meeting while holidaying in Norway. With Jim Henson handling the special effects, Miss Ernst's big introduction as a witch is a truly wonderful spectacle which unsurprisingly disturbed plenty of kids when it was first released. One of those rare films to boast a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, The Witches sees Angelica Houston at the top of her game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrjLNpfDTi0
