20 Most Idiotic Film Twists Of All Time
14. The Twist Is That There's No Twist - Saw V
The Twist: Whereas the previous four Saw movies all had relatively shocking plot twists at their finale (Jigsaw is in the room, Daniel is locked in the safe, Jeff failed his test by killing Jigsaw, and Hoffman being the new Jigsaw) alongside various other surprises, the fifth Saw V movie went completely the other way.
That's right, the movie doesn't end with any major plot twist, instead simply having Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) frame Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson) as Jigsaw before killing him, both of which were relatively predictable events given the Saw formula.
Why It's Stupid: Because the movie's marketing rather brazenly boasted, "you won't believe how it ends", suggesting a mind-blowing plot twist on par with the earlier and better films in the series. In a way the advertising was relatively accurate: nobody could've anticipated such an anti-climax of an ending, where business pretty much proceeded as usual and there was absolutely nothing shocking to speak of.
Given the series' tradition of twists, Saw V is a rare movie where the absence of a plot twist can itself be considered a twist.
