20 Most Influential Actors Of All Time
18. Robin Williams
The late, great Robin Williams is one of Hollywood's best performers. Capturing the hearts of a nation with his hyperactive and hysterical stand-up routines and interviews, he went on to star in Happy Days and its spin-off Mork & Mindy. His character was a rousing success and is still seen as one of his greatest performances.
Despite his ingenious level of comedy and passion for ad-libbing, it wasn't long before Williams showed everyone just how capable an actor he could really be, thanks to dramatic turns in Good Morning Vietnam, The Fisher King, Dead Poets Society and the still-underrated Awakenings. His ability to move between the completely hilarious and the most dramatic roles Hollywood had to offer is a testament to his skill at reading people and understanding the different sides of the human psyche.
Whilst his most acclaimed role is perhaps Good Will Hunting, for which he won a long-overdue Oscar and broke the hearts of audiences all over the world, the true extent of his talent can be seen in the truly masterful and tense One Hour Photo. And like Hanks, who can forget his impact on the world of animation? Genie is still one of his most popular roles, and shows just how unique he really is.
Since his untimely and tragic death in 2014, his influence has shown no signs of slowing down. If anything, his talent and wildly broad filmography has ushered in more love than ever, and no one deserves it more.
