Even after all these years, Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead isn’t simply a rollercoaster ride of a movie – it’s that flying-off-the-rails coaster from the beginning of Final Destination 3. Out of control from beginning to end, the future Spider-Man director’s low-budget first effort is the purveyor of horror’s “cabin in the woods” template. You know the story; a group of young, likable innocents head to a secluded, wooded crib, find an ancient evil text, and unleash plenty or gory slapstick mayhem.

There are plenty to choose from, but the most infamous moment of the film is when the typical-dumb-horror-movie-girl wanders off into the woods wearing only a robe. Of course she is attacked by the evil forces. But they have more than mutilation or demonic possession on their mind. To put it delicately, the branches round second base before spreading her legs to make room for a branch in a spot where no branch should ever go.

The scene was recreated for the 2013 remake, and it was actually quite disturbing as well, but the original still packs the biggest punch.
