20 Most Overlooked Movies Of 2025
9. Relay
The great David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water) serves up one of the year's most distinctive and memorable thrillers with Relay, centered around a fixer (Riz Ahmed) who specialises in mediating between whistleblowers and the companies they expose.
Justin Piasecki's script does a masterful of dropping audiences into a fleshed-out world of corporate espionage that's at once totally unknown and yet feels wholly believable within our own reality.
The film wears its inspiration from classic '70s conspiracy thrillers on its sleeve but also infuses the formula with a more contemporary sheen, while Riz Ahmed is terrific in the central role and Lily James is solid as the focal whistleblower he attempts to help.
Relay is a same-but-different stab at the paranoia-laced surveillance thriller, and even though it almost collapses under the weight of its own overly tricky third act, it's still one of the most imaginative and well-executed films of its type from the past 12 months.
