20 Most Overlooked Movies Of 2025
19. If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
If I Had Legs I'd Kick You debuted to rave reviews at Sundance and went on to win Rose Byrne the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at Berlin, though ultimately cracked just $1.3 million during its theatrical release before being quietly sent to streaming.
While Byrne is continuing to attract Oscar buzz for her sublime performance, the film as a whole hasn't picked up much chatter outside of the usual awards circus, despite being one of the most brilliantly crafted films of 2025.
Byrne gives one of the best performances of the year, or really any year, as Linda, an ever-exhausted mother who cares for her daughter who suffers from an eating disorder.
While it might not be the most mainstream-skewing premise, writer-director Mary Bronstein brings visionary flair to the fore, making some bold directorial choices which help it stand out from other similarly premised Tired Parent dramas.
For one, it's basically a horror film dressed up as a psychological drama, albeit one coloured with flecks of black comedy, all of it woven together skillfully by Bronstein, Byrne, and an ensemble cast that includes Conan O'Brien and ASAP Rock of all people.
