20 Most Rewatchable Sci-Fi Movies Of The 21st Century
4. Monsters
Directed
by future Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards, this 2010 effort follows a bickering
mismatched duo through a desolate, largely deserted Mexico as our disgruntled
hero Scoot McNairy accompanies his boss’s daughter across the country after the
arrival of the eponymous threat.
Said monsters are gargantuan beasts which lay waste to entire cities and leave a trail of destruction which would embarrass the things hiding in Stephen King’s mist, but they’re not the focus of this unusual flick—the humans are, and gradually the titular terrors fade into the background as the viewer becomes absorbed by their interplay, the tension and occasional chemistry which will see you return to this one for repeat viewings despite the absence of, well, many monsters.
