2. Outlaw King (63%)

Expectations were high for Outlaw King right out of the gate, given the mighty acclaim for director David Mackenzie's previous film Hell or High Water (97%).

The prospect of Mackenzie tackling a Chris Pine-starring Robert the Bruce biopic seemed ripe for awards glory, so disappointment immediately set in once the film received wildly mixed reviews from its TIFF premiere.

To his credit, Mackenzie went back into the editing room and trimmed 20 minutes from Outlaw King before it hit Netflix, resulting in a film that's by all accounts effortlessly superior.

And as good as the final version of the movie is, the damage had sadly already been done, causing it to barely scrape a Fresh rating.

A sad fate for a film many expected to score at least 90% on the Tomatometer and be courting Oscars, but at least Mackenzie was smart enough to re-work his movie before it hit general release.
