20 Most Underrated Sci-Fi Movies Of The 21st Century

19. Snowpiercer (2013)

High Life
The Weinstein Company

Over the last several years, Academy Award winner Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer has found itself develop status as a cult classic; it's even spawned a spin-off TV series. But it's still far from the level of popularity it deserves.

In a dystopian future where humanity has been struck by its second Ice Age, a powerful train cuts through the earth and keeps a select group of survivors from harm. On the train, the survivors are segregated by class and rebellion is brewing, leading Curtis (Chris Evans) through a violent uprising against the train's masters.

A claustrophobic thrill ride bursting with excellently conceived action sequences and surprising twists, Snowpiercer stands as one of the most refreshing recent installments to the post-apocalyptic genre.

It also sports great performances from its staggering ensemble, which includes Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris and John Hurt, and enough gasp-inducing horrors to keep you glued to the screen until the final credits.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
