20 Most Unfairly Hated Movies Of The 21st Century

17. Not Another Teen Movie (2001)

Watchmen Blue
Columbia Pictures

Why It's Hated: Largely reviled as another rancid attempt to revive the stagnating spoof genre, Not Another Teen Movie came and went without much fuss because most saw it as a lazy attempt to ape the previous year's Scary Movie, but for teen comedy rather than horror, of course.

Nowadays? A lot of people just lump it in with the likes of Epic Movie, Disaster Movie and so on.

Why It's Unfair: It may not look like it, but NATM is an unexpectedly sharp and hilarious send-up of countless late-90s teen movies.

The cast is excellent throughout (including a young Chris Evans!), it moves fast and doesn't milk any joke for too long, and though the toilet humour is occasionally a bit much, on the whole it totally nails its targets.

Far above most other similar genre spoofs of recent years, this is a riotously entertaining comedy and one that deserves a major critical re-evaluation.
