8. Tyler Perry - Star Trek

Infamous filmmaker Tyler Perry somehow scored a role in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek reboot, appearing briefly as Starfleet Academy's Admiral Barnett, who gives Kirk a dressing-down for cheating the Kobayashi Maru.

This was actually Perry's first acting role outside of his own movies, and seeing the man primarily known for cross-dressing as Madea taking a totally straight part in a Star Trek movie was...jarring, to say the least.

Still, once you get over its weirdness, Perry actually does fine work in his scene, and of course went on to prove his real acting chops by appearing in David Fincher's Gone Girl several years later.
