19. The Psychiatrist Goes Nuts - Halloween

Dr. Ranbir Sartain (Haluk Bilginer) is introduced at the start of the new Halloween movie as a student of the series' legendary psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence), and Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) even hilariously refers to him as "the new Loomis."

But rather than simply rehash the Loomis character, Sartain's arc is, uh, a little different. But sadly, not for the better.

Sartain's obsession with figuring out the "why?" behind Michael Myers' rampage causes him to murder sheriff's deputy Hawkins (Will Patton) before he can kill Michael, at which point he takes Michael's mask and wears it over his own face.

He then drives Michael's unconscious body towards Laurie's location while explaining that he orchestrated Michael's breakout and wants to observe a final showdown between the two.

It's a pretty lousy plot device to set up the climax, honestly, but at least we get an awesome head-stomp scene out of it when Michael reduces Sartain's noggin to gooey pulp.
