After M. Night Shyamalan shocked the world with Split's big twist - that it was actually a secret Unbreakable sequel - audiences were fascinated to see how the movies would tie together in Glass.

The film teased an epic showdown between super-powered characters David Dunn (Bruce Willis), The Horde (James McAvoy), and Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) in its third act, but in typically subversive Shyamalan fashion, he ultimately ditched it in favour of a more low-key, down-and-dirty brawl in a parking lot.

But that's not the problem. The problem is that the protagonist of the movie, Dunn, dies an hilariously anti-climactic death by being drowned by one of Dr. Ellie Staple's (Sarah Paulson) anonymous grunts...in a puddle of water.

While it's clear Shyamalan was trying to toy with superhero movie tropes and give Dunn an intentionally underwhelming demise - given that water is his Kryptonite and all - making it quite so pathetic backfired spectacularly, with most fans expressing dismay that the film had such a bleak non-event of an ending.

It didn't help that McAvoy's much-loved Horde was also dispatched without any fanfare at all, being shot by another anonymous soldier. This was weird in all the wrong ways.
