13. The Family Explodes - Ready Or Not

Ready or Not was one of the year's most entertaining studio horror films, a devilishly funny R-rated spin on hide and seek, with newlywed Grace Le Domas (Samara Weaving) desperately trying to survive until sunrise as her new family tries to butcher her.

As it turns out, their rationale for doing is to satisfy a pact made by the family decades prior, where they would receive fortune for ensuring that every outside addition to the family would have to play a game on their wedding night.

In the event of the hide and seek card being pulled, the family have until sunrise to kill the marrying party, or the entire family will die.

Grace manages to survive until sunrise, at which point nothing appears to happen, and the murderous clan breathes a sigh of relief.

Except the ritual was just a little slow on the uptake, and moments later the surviving family members all start exploding into bloody chunks, leaving Grace soaked in blood and cackling to herself.

Quite how she explained all this to the cops, though, is anyone's guess. Or as she puts it herself, "In-laws."
