20 Movie Remakes You Didn’t Know Were In The Works
11. Charlie's Angels
The Film
2000's McG-directed adaptation of the classic crime TV series was a hit with critics and audiences alike, leading to the more mild success of 2003's sequel, Full Throttle (which went on to receive seven Razzie nominations).
The franchise laid dormant until September 2015, when reports emerged that Elizabeth Banks would produce and direct a remake, currently pencilled in for a June 7, 2019 release (though that'll likely be delayed with shooting yet to begin).
David Auburn (The Lake House) and Carlo Bernard (Narcos) will pen the script, while Lupita Nyong'o and Kristen Stewart have been rumoured to star, but the casting isn't concrete yet.
Is It A Good Idea?
It's hard to imagine anyone holding Charlie's Angels in high enough regard to be upset about this. The previous two movies were dumb, moderately enjoyable action flicks and this will probably be the same thing.
If the tone is in the vein of Banks' Pitch Perfect movies and the casting sizzles, it's easy to see this becoming a bigger hit franchise than the previous attempt.
