The Film

This Tim Robbins-starring psychological horror is one of the most memorable and distinctive of the 90s, becoming a cult favourite after bombing at the box office and having a clear influence on the iconic video game series Silent Hill.

In March 2016, the remake was confirmed, set to star Michael Ealy, Nicole Beharie and Jesse Williams, with David M. Rosenthal (The Perfect Guy) directing. Post-production has since been completed and the movie is now awaiting release sometime in 2018.

Is It A Good Idea?

Not really. Jacob's Ladder was a lightning-in-the-bottle movie that came out at just the right time, and while there might be wiggle room for a new take to offer up renewed social commentary on both war and mental illness, the original's big conceit isn't exactly much of a secret anymore.

Plus, the cast and crew aren't really known for their quality CVs, and with the movie having been shot over two years ago, it's hard to be optimistic about it.
