20 Movie Remakes You Didn’t Know Were In The Works
2. Pet Sematary
The Film
A middling Stephen King adaptation if there ever was one, the 1989 horror flick Pet Sematary was nevertheless a strong box office success and remains a cult favourite today. The risible 1992 sequel, Pet Sematary Two? Not so much.
The first major word of a remake emerged in 2013, but things only picked up real steam recently, with confirmation that Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes) will direct, while David Kajganich (The Terror) writes the script and Amy Seimetz, Jason Clarke and John Lithgow star.
Is It A Good Idea?
There's enough talent involved to be cautiously optimistic about this being a dread-infused, atmospheric movie rather than the pure schlock that was the original.
Enough time has passed that this shouldn't really offend fans of the original, especially with such a solid cast and crew being roped in.
