The Film

Not content with masterminding the CW's superhero shows and Riverdale, Greg Berlanti has plans to direct a remake of Little Shop Of Horrors. He replaces Declan O'Brien, who intended to make it a dark, non-musical remake as of 2009, but that version was shelved in favour of Berlanti's.

So, will his version be a musical? Some reports seem to suggest so, but we don't know whether the brilliant songs of the Frank Oz version will port over. The original Deadline report failed to mention whether the songs by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman would be in the remake (hopefully, it will be a mix of old and new songs).

Is It A Good Idea?

Well, the first remake improved on the original, so maybe this one would manage it too... But the cynic in everyone should be concerned that they'd replace the idiosyncratic practical effects and puppetry with unnecessary CGI.

And there's no way they'd be able to put together a better cast than the musical version did.
