The Film

After two great efforts with Jim Carrey, the Ace Ventura franchise died horribly in 2009 with TV movie Ace Ventura Jr (if you didn't see it, count yourself lucky). That came after a passable animated TV show, but both struggled badly for the lack of Carrey.

Despite that, Morgan Creek Productions are currently looking into the possibility of remaking Ace Ventura without their blue chip star, according to Deadline. And that's despite the company selling off most of their properties, so they must have firm intentions.

Is It A Good Idea?

If it had been a proper sequel with Jim Carrey, it might have been worth some hype (since it's well over time he returned to his funny days), but with a new actor involved it's got to be considered a hard pass.
