The Film

After the success of the Broadway musical based on the 1992 surprise hit (and its less successful but no less brilliant sequel), Hollywood has decided the time is right to bring a fresh take on the Sister Act story to the big screen.

Announced in 2015, the remake is being written by Legally Blonde writers Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, but Whoopi Goldberg is yet to be announced as attached in any capacity.

Is It A Good Idea?

There really aren't enough light-hearted religious musicals around these days, so yes. There will be some fear that a remake would trash the original, but there's an easy way to allay those fears: just hire Whoopi to play one of the elder nuns that the new lead is sent for sanctuary to.

And just think of the possibilities of going somewhat Pitch Perfect with it too... It couldn't not be adorable.
