20 Movie Scenes That Are Totally Flawless

11. The Crazy 88 - Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)

Whether you appreciate Quentin Tarantino's blood-drenched tendencies or not, there's no denying how fun and entertaining Kill Bill's first instalment is in the big moments.

Having survived a brutal murder attempt courtesy of the now-disbanded Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, The Bride (Uma Thurman) spends the movie hunting down and killing her attackers. Near the end of the movie, she comes across O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu), the leader of the Yakuza who is backed-up by an army of master assassins known as The Crazy 88.

In the crowning achievement of Tarantino's two-part revenge thriller, The Bride fights the 88 in a 10-minute scene that comes complete with flying body parts, a slick black-and-white aesthetic, and enough blood and gore to put even the most hardcore horror flicks to shame.

Gratuitous and over-the-top as it may be, the epic battle is undeniably brilliant in its execution and choreography, and solidifies The Bride as one of cinema's most badass heroines.

(CW: Tarantino-level violence)
