20 Movie Scenes That Should've Been Cut
5. Angel of the Morning - It Chapter Two
It Chapter Two is a pretty typical example of an overconfident, overegged sequel which got a little too high off its own supply after the positive response to the first film.
"We can do no wrong," director Andy Muschietti probably thought when he made the head-scratching decision to infuse a late-film set-piece with one of the most awkward and unexpected needle drops in cinema history.
When the Leper attacks an adult Eddie (James Ransone) and vomits black liquid in his face, the chorus of Juice Newton's "Angel of the Morning" suddenly starts blaring out, before abruptly cutting off a few seconds later once Eddie is doused in the black stuff.
Sure, it's clearly meant to be absurd and WTF, but the editing is so clunky, and it feels so at odds with the rest of the scene, that it ends up feeling like the sort of naff, amateur-hour edit you'd expect from a teenage YouTuber, not a mega-budget horror sequel produced by industry professionals.
