20 Movie Scenes That Should've Been Cut
4. Raptor Gymnastics - The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park strikes again, this time in the first sequel The Lost World, which may well lay claim to featuring the single worst scene ever directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg.
In the third act when Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) is about to be pounced on by a Velociraptor, his daughter Kelly (Vanessa Lee Chester) - who is established to be a gymnast - makes the save by taking the dinosaur out with some slick gymnastics moves.
That is to say, we get a hilariously elaborate bar-climbing sequence in which Kelly spins and twirls around, no matter her father's impending demise, before finally dropkicking the Raptor through a wall to its death.
Though it's interesting in theory to see a human kill a dinosaur without any conventional weapons to speak of, nothing about this scene works - the gym routine is overdone and the Raptor's expression as it turns to face Kelly when she shouts "Hey, you!" is absolutely hysterical.
Folks have predictably written "think pieces" in recent years trying to defend it, but no, it's just awful.
