20 Movie Scenes That Were Made Epic By Perfect Song Choices

1. The Candy-Coloured Clown - Blue Velvet

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP2OwiCmk88 The Song: In Dreams - Roy Orbison (1963) The Scene: The song appears a couple of times during the course of the film. It's something that Dennis Hopper's manic Frank Booth requests, ostensibly to calm him down. He doesn't ask for 'In Dreams' but the 'candy-coloured clown'. Frank plays the song while terrorising and beating up a young Jefrey. Why It's Great: It's so unsettling. Frank Booth is one of the most terrifying characters in film history, but his actions are given extra menace when accompanied by the usually soothing voice of Roy Orbison. 'In Dreams' can also be seen as a reference to the dream-like nature of the film. Hopper's delivery as he coldly recites the lyrics to the song is the stuff of nightmares.
