20 Movie Scenes That Were Made Epic By Perfect Song Choices

16. Opening Credits - The Hunger

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-o39BJ0Aww The Song: Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus (1979) The Scene: It's the opening credits, so it's essentially a montage of clips interspersed with the names of those involved with the production of the film. Peter Murphy, lead singer of British punk band Bauhaus, stands behind a grate and lip-synchs to the groups' song Bela Lugosi's Dead as the vampiric Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie scope out the potential prey of a NYC nightclub. Why It's Great: It's a bold opening gambit and sets the tone for the whole film. The song is also a knowing nod to actor Bela Lugosi, who helped to establish the image of the modern vampire in film in the 1930s and 40s. The Hunger is, of course, a film about vampires (albeit one which takes a more postmodern approach).
