20 Movie Sequels That Are Totally Flawless

9. Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)

Blade Runner 2049 Ryan Gosling
TriStar Pictures

1984's The Terminator is a phenomenal sci-fi action flick, pitting humans against unstoppable machines in an urgent two-hour tapestry of violence and time travel. With T2: Judgement Day, director James Cameron returned to his story with massive goals, and ended up crafting an action epic for the ages.

Taking place around a decade after the original film, Judgement Day finds a young John Connor forced to team-up with the Terminator so he can save his mother and, in turn, the world.

From the reveal that this time around Arnie is a good guy to the explosive action set pieces and the special effects used to create the villainous T-1000, Terminator 2 builds on the lore created by its predecessor with thrilling results. It's an action epic with heaps of heart, and easily overcomes the flaws of its many awful follow-ups.
