19. Quantum of Solace
Quantum of Solace, the second film in the Daniel Craig era of James Bond films, was the first in the series' history to function as a direct, immediate continuation of the previous entry, the stupendous Casino Royale.
Casino Royale ends with 007 (Craig) capturing the shadowy Mr. White (Jesper Christensen) and bundling him into the boot of his Aston Martin DBS V12, while Quantum opens with Bond partaking in a car chase in the very same vehicle.
Once Bond has fought off his pursuers, he opens the boot of the car, revealing Mr. White inside and confirming that this set-piece took place in the immediate aftermath of Casino Royale, as Bond transports Mr. White to M (Judi Dench).
Though Quantum of Solace remains one of the most divisive Bond films of the Craig era, it was at least refreshing to see the film immediately pick up Casino Royale's dangling thread rather than hurriedly brush it under the carpet, as was basically custom for the franchise up to that point.
