20 Movie Sequels That Start Immediately After The First

Considering that the first Crank ended with assassin Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) falling thousands of feet out of a helicopter and hitting the unforgiving pavement below, there didn't seem much prospect for a sequel.

But hilariously, Crank: High Voltage picks up straight from the first film's closing shot, with an apparently dead Chev being scooped up off the pavement by gangsters.

After this he wakes up three months later, where he ends up fitted with an artificial heart which he must keep charged through an array of insane activity.

It's basically the same movie all over again but somehow even more bonkers, and lays claim to one of the greatest sequel taglines of all time - "He was dead... but he got better."

Though nobody would've batted an eyelid if Crank was a one-off given how the first film ended, the audacity to get a sequel made by any means necessary, logic be-damned, is downright laudable.

The fact that it's also an extremely entertaining follow-up, then, is just the icing on the cake.
