20 Movie Sequels That Start Immediately After The First

Masterful found footage film [REC] concludes on a deeply chilling note as news reporter protagonist Ángela Vidal (Manuela Velasco) is dragged off into the darkness by a mutated, demonically possessed woman, Tristana Medeiros (Javier Botet).

And [REC] 2 picks up basically at this very point, albeit from a totally different perspective, as a team of soldiers are sent to breach the quarantined apartment block and find out what the hell happened inside.

What follows is an insane, Aliens-inspired rollercoaster ride as the soldiers fend off the infected horde residing in the building, before finally crossing paths with Ángela at the start of the sequel's third act.

Though some fans were disappointed that Ángela had such a small role in this sequel, the intense, suspenseful action is a blast, and the payoff with Ángela - that she was actually infected with Tristana's parasite moments after the first film ended - makes for one hell of an enticing cliffhanger.

For a follow-up that revisited the same location on the same night and could've easily felt like a lazy retread of the beloved original, this was basically a miraculously good sequel.
