20 Movie Sequels That Were JUST Confirmed

When you hear that a Road House sequel is in development, you're probably assuming it's a follow-up to 2024's Jake Gyllenhaal-starring remake, right?

Well, here's where things get really, really weird.

Though a sequel to the Gyllenhaal film is currently being shot by Ilya Naishuller (Nobody), it was recently announced that a competing sequel project is also in the works from the director of the 2024 film, Doug Liman.

Liman, who famously had a falling out with Amazon after they neglected to give the film a theatrical release, has acquired the rights to produce a sequel to the original 1989 Patrick Swayze-starring Road House, titled Road House: Dylan, which has been written by original Road House writer R. Lance Hill.

This is a uniquely messy situation and one made even worse by a pending lawsuit about the rights to the Road House IP, which will presumably need to be resolved before Liman can start shooting his competing sequel.
