20 Movie Sequels That Were JUST Confirmed
19. Men in Black 5
Though it seemed evident that the Men in Black franchise ran its course after a commercially successful trilogy and 2019's woeful flop reboot Men in Black: International, with $1.9 billion in combined box office receipts of course Sony was never going to let the hit IP go.
Mere weeks ago, Sony confirmed that they are now actively developing Men in Black 5, with Bad Boys for Life writer Chris Bremner set to pen a draft of the script.
At present it remains unclear if the sequel is expected to star original leads Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones, though considering their popularity in these roles and Smith having previously worked on a Bremner-written film, it seems highly likely.
Then again, Tommy Lee Jones turns 80 this coming September, so it's quite probable this new film goes the legacy sequel route of pairing Smith's Agent J with a new young recruit, while Jones perhaps only shows up for a brief cameo.
No word yet on when it might go before cameras, but considering that the success of 2024's Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Will Smith's continued popularity, Sony will surely want to get it going ASAP.
