20 Movie Sequels That Were JUST Confirmed

Now in fairness, a third Five Night at Freddy's film hasn't actually been officially confirmed by Blumhouse yet, but the greenlight was only ever contingent on the second film hitting at the box office - which, barring an unforseen act of God, it was always going to.

Considering that Five Nights at Freddy's 2's global opening weekend was a stonking $110.5 million - more than double its $51 million budget - it's just a matter of time before Blumhouse formally announces a third.

Earlier this month, industry scooper Daniel Richtman claimed that a third film was already deep in development and could begin shooting as soon as late summer 2026.

Given that the second film quite blatantly teed up a third, and the box office receipts of these films are clearly unaffected by terrible reviews, Blumhouse has every incentive to strike while the iron is hot and milk the gravy train for every drop.

With that in mind, it's a fair bet that we see Five Nights at Freddy's 3 before the end of 2027.
