Though 2018's fourth Insidious film, The Last Key, was initially announced to be the final entry into the hit horror franchise, those plans changed once it unexpectedly ended up the highest-grossing film in the series.

Rumblings emerged almost immediately after the film's release that a fifth film was on the horizon, as was confirmed by star Lin Shaye last year, who stated that while the next sequel hadn't yet been written, it was expected to start shooting in 2020.

Given that the Insidious films are relatively low-budget and quick to both shoot and post-produce, there's little reason that it won't be with us in 2021, in line with the 2-3 year gestation cycle of its predecessors.
