20 Film & TV Remakes You Didn't Know Were Coming

17. The Pink Panther

Stretching back to its origin in 1963, The Pink Panther has developed into something of a strange franchise, with two distinct and separate aspects. The films have revolved around Inspector Clouseau, famed for his retrieval of the famous Pink Panther diamond, while the animated series has spawned a successful run from an actual cartoon pink panther character.

Reportedly, a new reboot will see both sides of that coin come together, utilising the talents of Jeff Fowler, who brought Sonic the Hedgehog to life in a similar way.

Blending live-action with a CGI character has come a long way from Who Framed Roger Rabbit to the likes of The Jungle Book and the aforementioned Sonic series, and the Pink Panther looks set to add its name to the list. Never before has the actual panther himself appeared in the live-action films outside of the opening credits, so when it is claimed the franchise will be brought to screen like never before, it's hard to argue with it.

Most synonymous with the role of Inspector Clouseau is of course Peter Sellers, who was replaced in the 2006 reboot by Steve Martin. The latest version will reportedly see another comedy legend take the reigns in Eddie Murphy.
