20 Movie Villains We Couldn't Help But Love

14. Hedley Lamarr

blazing Hedy Lamarr ("it's Hedley") is the corrupt politician at the center of Mel Brooks' western-genre spoof Blazing Saddles. In his attempt to maintain the railroad, he exploits a small town by having his henchmen try to terrorize its citizens from their homes. When the townspeople demand a new sheriff, Lamarr is behind the hiring of Bart (Cleavon Little), a black man in an unabashedly racist town. When Bart isn't met with the violently reactionary way that Lamarr had anticipated, he attempts to have him seduced by Madeline Kahn, a plot foiled by Bart's sexual prowess. His more peaceful plans having failed, Lamarr then plans on destroying the town of Rock Ridge. Why We Can't Help But Love Him: Who doesn't love a bad guy who'll whip up a gang filled with rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, sh*t-kickers and Methodists?
