20 Movies Every Nerd Must See Before They Die

5. Office Space (1999)

Mike Judge's (Beavis and Butthead) slacker comedy is a must-see for any nerd (or really, anyone) who's ever worked in an office. The film so perfectly realises the frustrations of working in such an environment: the annoyingly chirpy co-workers, the spineless bosses, the micro-management, the TPS (totally pointless s***) reports, and of course, the printer that never works properly. It's an enormously cathartic experience seeing Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston) and his buddies organising a scam to rip off their company, with Judge's insights feeling so authentically close-to-home that the movie has become a cult favourite among office workers the world over. It's almost impossible not to relate to in some measure even if your office is actually pretty OK: it holds a mirror up to our lives and sprinkles a dash of inspired absurdity for kicks.
