20 Movies Every Nerd Must See Before They Die

15. Shaun Of The Dead (2004)

Edgar Wright's entire filmography could sit on this list, but we instead opted for his best one to date, an uproariously funny British romantic zombie comedy (a "rom-zom-com" as it was marketed at the time) which put Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost on the map. Here's a horror comedy that's clearly reverent to its genre predecessors and full of nerdy references to video games and so on, but is also genuinely intense as a zombie flick, reveling in plenty of grotesque splatter and some unexpectedly emotional moments. Shaun has been hugely influential in the horror comedy genre, and though it's been imitated countless times over the last decade, it's never once been equaled. Hell, even zombie movie legend George A. Romero loved it: what bigger nerd stamp of approval could it possibly get?
