20 Movies Since 2010 So Awful They're Actually Harrowing

18. Saw 3D

Is there any franchise as irritating as Saw? After two absolutely solid movies, the films stopped being thought-provoking and dark examinations of human morality, and instead evolved into the equivalent of a teenager playing Call of Duty trying to get the highest kill-streak, with the death scenes being the only priority.

The fifth film is definitely the worst but this 'final' instalment gives it real competition. A con man is put through a deeply boring test, while a detective played by someone from Final Destination who can’t act to save his life chases Jigsaw’s apprentice.

Those looking for gore definitely won't be disappointed. But even for them, this is dominated by flashbacks and endless and painfully convoluted exposition, and it leads to a seriously obvious twist ending (which doesn’t make any sense).

The film never feels like a conclusion, while it's also the worst cast of the franchise. Tobin Bell is barely in it, it’s atrociously made and the film, despite being a horror, is completely devoid of any actual horror, ending the series on a whimper.
