This Jerry Bruckheimer-produced epic war movie takes place in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, and follows an outfit consisting of CIA paramilitaries and US Special Forces as they head to Afghanistan to tackle the Taliban.

Sure, with newbie director Nicolai Fuglsig at the helm and the potential for the film to become a lazy flag-waving exercise, it's fair to have some concerns. But on the other hand, the ensemble cast is just ridiculous, including Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth as the group's Captain, Michael Shannon, Michael Pena, Trevante Rhodes, William Fichtner, Rob Riggle, Saïd Taghmaoui and Hemsworth's wife Elsa Pataky (who also plays his screen wife).

That January release date and the movie's general lack of marketing presence is definitely more than a little suspect, but not everything shoveled out during the cinematic graveyard months is automatically awful. Plus, that cast...
