Wes Anderson's new movie sees the revered director returning to the animation medium after his terrific 2009 foray with The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Isle of Dogs takes place in a dystopian future Japan, where dogs have been sequestered on an isolated island due to a vicious outbreak of "canine flu". There, five dogs, voiced by Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum and Bob Balaban happen upon a young boy, Atrai, who is searching for his lost pet dog.

This sounds as delightfully weird as you'd both hope for and expect from Anderson, while the rest of the cast is filled out by the brilliant likes of Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, F. Murray Abraham, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Courtney B. Vance, Harvey Keitel, Liev Schreiber and Ken Watanabe. As for who they're all playing? Anderson's keeping it pretty close to the chest for now.

There are going to be few casts as fantastically diverse as this through all of 2018, nor will there likely be many movies as disarmingly weird.
