It's fair to say that Rocky spin-off Creed was a great deal better than just about anyone expected, embracing a conventional boxing drama formula but elevating it thanks to Ryan Coogler's stunning direction and an ensemble of excellent performances.

It's amusing that, since Creed's release, the three lead actors, Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson, have all appeared or are set to appear in MCU movies, and will all be regrouping for the inevitable Creed sequel late next year.

Rumours suggest that the plot's going to revolve around Jordan's Adonis Creed fighting the son of Ivan Drago, complete with a supporting role for Dolph Lundgren himself.

Stallone will be directing this time, which is always a hit-and-miss prospect, but if Creed II captures even an ounce of the previous film's heart, it's going to be at least another respectably entertaining entry into the long-running franchise.
