5. American Pastoral - Ewan McGregor
In Star Wars: McGregor not only played young Obi-Wan in the prequel trilogy, but technically also reprises the part in The Force Awakens, having been called in to record the line, "Rey!" for Rey's flashback sequence mid-way through the film. Though McGregor didn't get a whole lot to work with in Lucas' script, he tried his damn best to make it convincing (except for
that line about the younglings).
The New Movie: McGregor isn't just starring in an adaptation of Philip Roth's apparently "unfilmable" 1997 novel, but he's also directing the damn thing, in his directorial debut no less! The film follows Seymour "Swede" Levov (McGregor) as his peaceful existence is upended by the political upheaval of the 1960s, causing him to be cast out of his social circles. It's a fascinating book, and though it remains to be seen whether or not McGregor can pull off the adaptation, it should be an interesting film if nothing else.
