20 Movies That Prove 2022 Is The Best Year For Horror EVER
4. Men
Alex Garland's extremely polarising horror Men is one of the most unforgettable movies of the year - period.
Jessie Buckley is typically excellent as Harper, a recently bereaved woman who heads to a cottage retreat to get herself in order, only to be terrorised by the village's spate of men who all appear to resemble the same person (Rory Kinnear).
If some criticised Garland's film for its unsubtle, arguably heavy-handed social commentary, that shameless approach feels very much by design, to bash viewers over the head with an experiential assault which puts viewers in the headspace of terrorised women simply trying to go about their daily lives in the face of trauma.
Buckley and Kinnear take a potentially silly setup and make it bone-chilling throughout, leading to one of the most jaw-dropping horror climaxes of this year or any other. Love it or hate it, you won't ever forget what you saw.
