Much like the other major water-themed sequel in contention - Avatar: The Way of Water - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever seems like a sure-fire Oscar contender, yet it's tough to ascertain precisely how far it could get.

The original went on to score seven nominations including Best Picture, and ultimately won Costume Design, Production Design, and Original Score, so for the sequel to come away with nothing seems relatively unlikely.

If Wakanda Forever will probably struggle to bottle the same zeitgeist as its predecessor, the inevitably heartfelt tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman is sure to resonate with Marvel fans and general Oscar voters alike.

With the film's first trailer persuading of its below-the-line richness, it's tough to believe that Wakanda Forever won't win an Oscar for one aspect of its lush craft.
