20 Movies Which Could Win Oscars In 2022
16. Soggy Bottom
The Academy sure does love Paul Thomas Anderson movies, having showered nominations on his last four films, and his upcoming coming-of-age drama - tentatively titled "Soggy Bottom" - is unlikely to be much different.
Yet despite having eight Oscar nominations to his name for writing, directing, and producing, Anderson hasn't ever won an Oscar outright, so the narrative will inevitably do the rounds that Anderson is "overdue" such recognition.
Anderson's films are generally a little too aloof for Best Picture glory, but considering the subject matter is reportedly related to filmmaking itself, this could be his Oscar breakout.
The smartest possibilities for actual wins are certainly Best Original Screenplay, Director, and potential acting nods for both Philip Seymour Hoffman's son Cooper Hoffman and co-star Bradley Cooper, depending on the size of their respective roles.
Above all else, it'd just be hilarious to hear someone announce Soggy Bottom as the winner of, well, anything.
