20 Movies You Didn't Know Were Set At Christmas

1. Stalag 17 (1953)

When you think of Christmas settings, a World War II German POW camp doesn€™t really jump to mind often, unless you are watching Stalag 17. Another Billy Wilder film (The Apartment, earlier on the list), this film opens just before Christmas as two prisoners attempt to escape, are caught, and the rest of the men try to figure out who is the snitch. Perhaps the most memorable scene (in both a sad and funny way) is the Christmas party inside the camp where the men are forced to dance with one another. The mole is finally revealed on Christmas Eve, just in time for one last escape attempt. Overall, there is a noticeable Christmassy atmosphere hanging over the film, even though in war, it is treated as just another day.
