9. Tarsem Singh: R.E.M. - "Losing My Religion"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if-UzXIQ5vw Winner of Best Video of the Year at the 1991 MTV Music Video Awards, R.E.M.'s emotive and entrancing "Losing My Religion" has become a flagship work praised world-over. Professionally working as 'Tarsem', Indian-American visual artist Tarsem Singh provided the winning work which screens in a haze of ethereal, poetic beauty. Singh founded a solid career in this platform, working with the likes of Beyonce, Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez, as well as shooting a number of major advertisements from big brands including Nike and Coca-Cola before the expected progression to narrative cinema. Since his video days, features such as Immortals (2011) and Mirror Mirror (2012) have been solid earners across the multiplexes, whilst his latest effort Self/Less starring Ryan Reynolds and Sir Ben Kingsley, has under-performed.
