Mark your Oscar ballots, because the awards hype is already through the roof for Rustin, a biopic of gay civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, who organised the legendary 1963 March on Washington, which culminated with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech.

Colman Domingo is already being widely touted as a major frontrunner for the Best Actor Oscar for his turn in the lead role, while the huge ensemble cast includes Chris Rock, CCH Pounder, Glynn Turman, Audra McDonald, and Jeffrey Wright.

Beyond that, it's being directed by George C. Wolfe (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), has been co-written by Wolfe and Oscar-winning writer Dustin Lance Black (Milk), and is being produced by the Obamas' company Higher Ground Productions.

On paper this has everything it needs to be a major awards threat, so expect to see it as a mainstay on the circuit over the next seven months.

Rustin releases later this year.
