3. My Father's Dragon
Nora Twomey, the co-founder of Irish animated outfit Cartoon Saloon - and director of The Secret of Kells and The Breadwinner - returns with an adaptation of Ruth Stiles Gannett's 1948 children's novel of the same name.
The story follows a young boy, Elmer Elevator (Jacob Tremblay), who runs away to the land of Wild Island to rescue a baby dragon (Gaten Matarazzo).
Twomey's film will reportedly also incorporate elements from Gannett's entire dragon trilogy - the other titles being Elmer and the Dragon and The Dragons of Blueland - and from the single image released to date, it certainly looks gorgeous.
The voice cast is also absolutely stacked, including but not limited to: Dianne Wiest, Rita Moreno, Chris O'Dowd, Judy Greer, Alan Cumming, Jackie Earle Haley, Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, Charlyne Yi, Whoopi Goldberg, and Ian McShane. Wow.
